The Visible Hand

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 3, 2026

The short version: The Visible Hand has no accounts, no forms, no advertising and no tracking cookies. We do not collect personal information from people who simply read the site.

Who we are

The Visible Hand (https://thevisiblehand.ca) is operated by Medical Futures Group, LLC, a Georgia (USA) limited liability company (“we”, “us”). We are responsible for personal information under our control, including under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for visitors in Quebec, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).

What we collect

Cookies and local storage

We do not set cookies. If you switch between the light and dark theme, your choice is saved in your own browser’s local storage under the key theme so the site remembers it. It never leaves your device, is not sent to us, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings. Fonts are served from our own site, so loading a page does not contact a font provider.

Because there is no tracking, there is nothing to consent to and no cookie banner. If that ever changes (for example, if we add analytics that use cookies), we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.

How we use and share information

We use the little information we receive only to run the site and to answer messages. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. We share it only with the service providers that help us operate the site, Cloudflare (hosting) and Google (Gmail) (email), or where the law requires it.

Where information is stored

The site is operated by a company organized in the United States, and our service providers may store or process information in Canada, the United States or other countries. Information held outside Canada is subject to the laws of those countries.

How long we keep it

We keep emails only as long as needed to handle your message and any resulting correction, and delete them within 24 months. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider under its own retention schedule.

Children

The site is written for high school students, university students, parents and counsellors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You may ask to see, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or withdraw consent to our using it. Contact us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, the Commission d’accès à l’information.

Person in charge of privacy

Our Privacy Officer is responsible for protecting personal information and for privacy questions and requests: Privacy Officer, Medical Futures Group, LLC, thevisiblehand.ca@gmail.com (email us).

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be noted on the home page for a reasonable period.
